I am indecisive. In
fact I was just wondering if I should write; I can be indecisive. Which one is better? Which one is right? Those two questions taunt and haunt me. When
faced with choices it can be almost debilitating to try and figure out what’s
better and what’s “right”.
What if both paths look good?? |
When I’m feeling indecisive, I’m not in the flow of my
energy. And because I’m not in the flow,
I am actually draining my energy and joy from life. I can actually feel it. I feel it in the pit of my stomach, it feels
turbulent and sick, I feel it in my head in the form of chaos – my thoughts
tumbling around without any focus, and I feel it in my emotions, I feel
frustrated, angsty, uncomfortable and sometimes angry.
Indecisiveness is difficult because sometimes life is truly
giving us two or more great choices at any time. The key for me, is to realize that there is not a right way and a wrong way,
it’s just one way, the way we choose and then the consequences of that choice. It’s true, some decisions will bring about
negative consequences, if they are not aligned with our highest and best self;
but that’s life. And with each decision
we make, we get closer and closer to our true self.
These are the ways I manage my indecisiveness:
HAVE A LITTLE FAITH:
Whatever you want to call it; God, Spirit, Energy,
Universe. Life is always available
around and within us. It is ready and
waiting to support us; NOT to punish us
for choosing incorrectly. On the
contrary, life is here to assist us and rally around us at every moment. This is great news because the Superior Intelligence of the Universe
always wants us to be joyful, tuned in, and turned on. Therefore, we are not out here alone with
some sinister energy waiting to pounce if we choose “wrong”. This is good news, and when I tune in and not
panic, I can tap into the calmness that is available to me and move to the next
step.
ASK FOR HELP:
Can I get a little direction here? |
The Universe is
available to support and assist us at every moment and in every instant. But we have to do our part. We have to know what we want. Knowing
what we want is the key to getting what we want. This is great news, and an easy way to learn
what we want and ultimately getting what we want, is by checking in with
ourselves and asking, “What do I want right now?” By asking that one simple question and then
stopping and checking in, we practice
listening to the Supreme Intelligence inside. It clarifies our hopes, desires, dreams, and aspirations
– it helps us to define who we are, where we’re going, and who we want to go
there with. It hones and strengthens our
convictions, our determination and will power.
CHOOSE AND LET GO:
The next step can be the hardest, because this is where we
actually have to choose. So,
pick one and then practice the art of “letting go”. Congratulate yourself on making a decision,
take a DEEP breath, physically shake your body, and then move on to something
else. Easier said than done, I know; but
that’s why it’s a practice. LETTING GO then circles back to step
one…Have a Little Faith.
LIFE is on our side.
Yes, it’s true that there can be negative consequences when
what we choose doesn’t align with what’s truly best for us. BUT, that’s ultimately a good thing. As we live with the uncomfortable outcomes of
our not so great decisions; we learn what truly is good for us and what aligns
with our highest good. Therefore, there really ARE no “bad”
choices, just lessons to be learned.
In closing I want to encourage you to keep making those
decisions…even when it’s scary, even when it’s hard, and especially when you
don’t know; because that keeps you in the game of life; living, learning and loving
yourself no matter what you decide!
Remember to enjoy the
ride and relish the JOY-ney!!
Great read! Making decisions is always tough and even tougher is finding peace in the choices that you make. Trust the process.
